Left is the Town of Griffith Seal commemorating the 100 year Centennial in 2004.

2004 was the Centennial year and celebration for Griffith, Indiana.

Chicago had cows. Highland had ducks. Griffith, in keeping with its railroading heritage, had Centennial Locomotives to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Town in 2004. The Griffith Historical Society sponsored the project in conjunction with the Griffith Centennial Committee and the effort was endorsed by the Griffith Chamber of Commerce. There's about 40 Centennial locomotives around town. The locomotive above is located at the Town Hall and below is the locomotive at the Griffith Senior Center.

Special thanks to the Griffith Centennial Celebration Committee and the Griffith Special Events Committee (GSEC) for all their work. Centennial activities were plentiful, and included a wine tasting event and a moonlight stroll.

The Centennial celebration finale was a Saturday, October 2, 2004 birthday party in Central Park which included a kiddie parade, 1,500 cupcakes and live music.
